Overview
We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Designer to support the design, documentation, and coordination of low-voltage systems for commercial, institutional, and enterprise projects. The ideal candidate has experience in structured cabling, security, audio-visual, and communication systems design within a multidisciplinary engineering or consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and document low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, data networks, access control, CCTV, fire alarm, audio-visual, and unified communication systems.
Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and schedules for low-voltage systems in coordination with project teams.
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams to ensure integration of low-voltage systems into overall building infrastructure.
Conduct site surveys and assessments to validate system requirements and infrastructure needs.
Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and system handover.
Review and specify vendor products and solutions to ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and budgets.
Maintain and update design standards, templates, and best practices for low-voltage systems.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system design issues during design, installation, and operational phases.
Stay current with emerging low-voltage technologies, industry standards, and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
3–7+ years of experience designing low-voltage systems in MEP, AV, or ICT environments.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), network protocols, and low-voltage system design.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schematics, and technical specifications.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with security, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and AV systems.
Certifications such as BICSI RCDD, CTS, or equivalent.
Familiarity with enterprise-level networks, mission-critical environments, or data centers.
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and standards (LEED, WELL) is a plus.
