We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical engineering projects across commercial, institutional, and mission-critical facilities. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management experience to drive high-quality, innovative, and code-compliant electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the electrical engineering design for complex projects, including power distribution, lighting, backup/emergency power, low-voltage systems, and building automation interfaces.
Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, fostering professional growth and maintaining high-quality standards.
Review and approve electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with codes (NEC, NFPA, local regulations) and industry standards.
Collaborate with clients, project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Oversee project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and quality assurance processes.
Provide technical guidance and support during construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
Contribute to business development initiatives, including proposals, client presentations, and technical support.
Promote innovative and sustainable electrical design practices, including energy efficiency strategies and integration of emerging technologies.
Represent the electrical engineering team in internal and external meetings, ensuring client satisfaction and technical excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required; multiple state registrations preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, preferably within an MEP consulting firm.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects.
Expertise in electrical systems design, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, and emergency power.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
Strong understanding of codes, standards, and best practices for commercial, institutional, and mission-critical projects.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and client-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data centers, healthcare, higher education, or large commercial projects.
Familiarity with sustainable design certifications (LEED, WELL, or similar).
Experience supporting business development and client relationship management.
