Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in HVAC and mechanical system design, particularly within mission-critical environments such as data centers, high-tech facilities, and large commercial buildings. This role involves leading design efforts, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for mission-critical, commercial, and industrial projects.
Develop engineering calculations, system layouts, equipment selection, and specifications.
Prepare and review detailed construction documents, including drawings and technical reports.
Collaborate with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure seamless integration of building systems.
Interface regularly with clients to understand project goals, present design solutions, and provide technical guidance.
Oversee QA/QC of mechanical designs and support continuous improvement of engineering standards.
Participate in field investigations, site surveys, and construction administration activities (remote support with occasional travel as needed).
Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support commissioning activities.
Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
Ensure all mechanical designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, IECC, and local building requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
8–15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally with mission-critical or data center project experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain reciprocity.
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
Strong understanding of cooling systems, chilled water plants, air handling equipment, and energy efficiency strategies.
Ability to manage multiple remote projects and collaborate effectively in a distributed work environment.
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing mechanical systems for hyperscale or enterprise-grade data centers.
Familiarity with commissioning processes, CFD analysis, or controls optimization.
LEED AP, WELL AP, or other sustainability credentials.
