Overview

We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our MEP design team in Boston. The ideal candidate will support the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, residential, and industrial building projects. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, producing high-quality engineering documents, and ensuring that electrical systems meet project objectives, code requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency/backup power, and low-voltage infrastructure.

  • Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, and system sizing using industry-standard software and tools.

  • Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents in collaboration with other engineering and architectural disciplines.

  • Coordinate with project managers, mechanical engineers, and plumbing engineers to ensure integrated and efficient building system design.

  • Conduct site assessments, field surveys, and support construction administration activities such as submittal reviews, RFIs, and punch lists.

  • Ensure electrical designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IBC, IECC, and relevant local codes.

  • Manage project deadlines, deliverables, and client communication for assigned tasks.

  • Support QA/QC processes and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and templates.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 3–8+ years of experience in electrical engineering within an MEP consulting environment.

  • EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to pursue licensure.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software (e.g., SKM Power Tools, ETAP, AGi32).

  • Strong understanding of building electrical systems and applicable codes.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with complex project types such as healthcare, higher education, labs, mission-critical, or large mixed-use buildings.

  • Familiarity with lighting design and photometric modeling.

  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles (LEED, WELL).
