Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Designer to join our MEP consulting team in Houston. The ideal candidate will support electrical engineering projects by creating accurate construction drawings, design documentation, and 3D models. This role requires proficiency with electrical design software and the ability to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality MEP solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and prepare electrical design drawings, layouts, and schematics for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
Assist engineers in creating construction documents, equipment schedules, panel schedules, and specifications.
Perform basic load calculations, lighting layouts, and power distribution design under engineer guidance.
Collaborate with mechanical, plumbing, and architectural teams to coordinate electrical systems with other building systems.
Review project drawings, specifications, and codes to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and local building codes.
Support project teams in preparation of submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation.
Maintain and update design standards, templates, and drawing libraries to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Participate in project meetings and provide technical input as required.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
2–5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within an MEP consulting or engineering environment.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software.
Knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and local code requirements.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality drawings.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
EIT certification or working toward PE licensure.
Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination.
Familiarity with lighting design software (AGi32 or similar).
Experience with healthcare, education, or commercial building projects.
