Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Associate Director – Electrical to lead and oversee electrical engineering projects within a multidisciplinary MEP consulting environment. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, leadership skills, and business development capabilities to drive high-quality electrical design and project delivery across complex commercial, institutional, and mission-critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic oversight for electrical engineering projects, ensuring design excellence, code compliance, and client satisfaction.

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, fostering professional growth and maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Oversee project planning, resource allocation, budgets, and schedules for multiple concurrent projects.

  • Review and approve electrical designs, specifications, drawings, and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, local regulations).

  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to define project scope, objectives, and design strategies.

  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, client presentations, and technical guidance.

  • Promote innovation in electrical system design, sustainability, and energy efficiency practices.

  • Support quality assurance/quality control processes and risk management initiatives.

  • Represent the electrical engineering team in internal leadership meetings and client engagements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.

  • PE licensure required; multiple state registrations preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, preferably within an MEP consulting firm.

  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, backup power, and low-voltage systems.

  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.

  • Exceptional communication, client management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong understanding of codes, standards, and best practices for commercial, institutional, and mission-critical projects.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale, mission-critical, healthcare, or data center projects.

  • Familiarity with sustainable design certifications (LEED, WELL, or similar).

  • Experience supporting business development and client relationship management.
