As a Transportation Engineering Group Manager, Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides project management oversight and applies engineering expertise in the daily operational task of preparing Plans, Specification & Estimate (PS&E), preliminary engineering reports, schematic design, drainage design and TCPs for roadway projects.  

  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.  

  • Leads efforts in obtaining TxDOT Schematic and PS&E contracts as a prime and to assist with business development within the Corpus Christi and surrounding TxDOT regions(s), or as assigned throughout Texas.  

  • Develops and maintains relationships with TxDOT decision makers, as well as local municipalities, to increase Company exposure and position the Company for engineering and surveying contracts.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with current and prospective clients. Maintains a high public profile with our targeted client base, including participating as an active member in civil and professional activities, societies and organizations.  

  • Assists in preparing and approving proposals and qualifications statements and may assist with the management of plan production on roadway, streets, highways, and other transportation-related systems and multi-modal projects.

  • Maintains TxDOT certifications.

As an Office Executive, Responsibilities Include:

  • Participates in development and implementation of corporate-wide marketing plans.  

  • Leadership and Vision/Strategic Planning for Growth: They contribute to the company’s overall strategy by aligning office/branch goals with the organization’s mission. This requires a big-picture perspective.

    1. Work with the Regional Executive to conduct market analysis that will frame the strategy to diversify the existing office/branch services to new clients and end markets.

    2. Champion the client management program for the office/branch

    3. Ensure the rigor and effectiveness of data used in the development of the pipeline and capture planning through CRM.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

    1. Facilitate Communication: Office Executives bridge gaps between different market sectors/teams by ensuring effective communication. They organize regular meetings, workshops, and brainstorming sessions to encourage collaboration.

    2. Promote Knowledge Sharing: They create platforms for sharing best practices, lessons learned, and innovative ideas. This helps break down silos and encourages a culture of continuous learning.

    3. Employee Culture Enhancement/Employee Engagement: Office Executives focus on employee well-being, job satisfaction, and engagement. They organize team-building activities, recognition programs, and social events.

    4. Performance Management: They work closely with HR & BU Presidents to ensure fair performance evaluations, career development, and growth opportunities for employees. Assist in recruiting staff within the office/branch.

    5. Diversity and Inclusion: Office Executives promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the company. They create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

  • Change Management:

    1. When implementing new processes or technologies, office executives guide employees through the transition, addressing any resistance.

  • Culture Champion: They embody the company’s values and set an example for others. Their leadership influences the overall organizational culture.

  • Monitor/Reinforce: Safety Program, PMP, Quality Program, Utilization, Project Multiplier, New Revenue, AR/DSO

Successful cross-departmental collaboration requires a shared vision, mutual respect, and understanding of each other’s roles. By fostering teamwork and promoting a positive culture, office executives contribute significantly to an engineering firm’s success.  Team leaders filling the role will also continue to lead their respective teams. The OE will report through the business line directly and work closely with the Regional Executive for growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • PE licensure in TX (or ability to obtain PE within 3 months of hire)

  • Strong technical background in TxDOT Transportation Design Engineering.

  • Credible design experience in using and guiding the use of: Microstation, GeoPak (Road and Drainage) and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).  

  • Experience in designing highway and freeway design projects (PS&E), including horizontal and vertical geometry design, Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) modeling, culvert and drainage design, retaining wall design, quantity calculations, miscellaneous details and development of deliverables.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments both independently and within a team environment.

  • Working experience in prioritizing and organizing work assignments.

  • Experience performing business development and maintaining relationships with TxDOT and local municipality decision makers.

  • Experience working with TxDOT and local municipalities as a prime consultant.

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with team members, clients, governmental review authorities, government officials, and the public.

  • Demonstrated expertise adjusting to priorities and demands from multiple clients and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Firm understanding of risk management and loss prevention.

  • Superior organizational and planning skills with keen attention to detail

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, and relevant technical software) required.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
